It may have the true audio on another channel. Load the original video into Gold Wave. It will show all the channels, and which have audio on them.

    What did you expect?
Could be that the audio in the AVI is in a format TMPGEnc can't handle. Open the AVI in VirtualDub, extract audio and convert to WAV.
Use this wav as audio source when encoding.

Here's a pretty easy to follow way of converting your AVI's sound to wav using Virtualdub.
    1. Open your AVI with Virtualdub by going to the file menu then open.

    2. Go to the Audio menu and select "Full Processing Mode".

    3. Go to the File menu and select "Save WAV" and choose a file name. The conversion should take a couple of minutes.

If the wav plays fine, post back here for instructions on how to take the WAV and add it to your mpeg without re-encoding the video.

Hi, if you want a really easy way to extract your WAV or AC3 try this little gem.
I's so simple it's almost idiot proof. ffmpeggui

I know what you mean about TMPGEnc, you just know it's going to be a pain in the ass just by looking at the geeky, nerdy name of the app.

    cheers
