Hey everyone. My firewall like most shows the IPs of the people that are possibly trying to get inside your computer (mostly spyware companies). I was just wondering if there is a way to look at those ip addesses and see where they are coming from.
I remember when I posted about that fake escrow service and some people could find out tons of info on them...is that a special program or what? I was just wondering who some of these people are.
Sorry if this is in the wrong forum. Thanks for any help.

You could also go into your command line and run tracert *ipaddress* to see each step of the way to get to that IP address. That really helps to narrow down which ISP node it could be coming from. I think it's limited to 20 hops though, and they'd also see you ping them if they're watching. If you know how to check up on info from there then you're set. And it's free!

spyware is going out of your computer - not coming in ...
also not every IP address you see on a firewall log is someone trying to break in to your system .... in fact little of it is importaint - though some people don't like to be scanned (though it really doesnt hurt anything) ...
a lot of traffic is also badly configured systems ...."Each problem that I solved became a rule which served afterwards to solve other problems." - Rene Descartes (1596-1650)
