I was racking my brain trying to figure out why Adobe Premiere 6.5 wouldn't support my ATI AIW 8500DV. I also heard comments that it wasn't compatible either.
I even searched the forums to find the solution to my problem. Here is one of these topics
https://www.videohelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=141844
and searched Adobe's forums.
One of those posts triggered the light bulb.....
Most of us are creatures of habit, which is the problem here. Like most people, on Adobe's Project Wizard I would select Standard 48KHz NTSC and would wonder why Premiere would say "Device in use"
The problem is the project itself.... When the project wizard is up select "Video for Windows" and then customize it.
The problem is the default project is a DV(digital video) project and you are capturing an analog source.
I selected/customized Video for Windows and Viola! I could see my tv tuner or vcr and no problems.
Sorry for the long drawn out story...
Please post your experiences or let me know I'm full of it but it worked for me and I'm happy with Premiere again.
