I have a Qwestar (Oritron/KOSS clone) DVD player that plays VCDs and audio CDs just fine. The problem is with DVDs. It will play a DVD for any where from 10 secs to 3 minutes and then freeze up. It will then say invalid disk for every DVD I put in it after that (but still play vcd and audio). I have to unplug the power for 30 min before it will even try to play a DVD again. I have tried to clean the lens but no help.
I would think since it play VCDs and Music CDs that it is not a mechanical issue.
Has anyone else seen this problem or does anyone have any ideas?
Thanks,
jbirdg

Commercial DVD's or DVDR's?
To Be, Or, Not To Be, That, Is The Gazorgan Plan -
It could be a mechanical issue because the laser that reads VCD and music CDs is not the same laser that reads DVDs.

jbirdg,
If a DVD Player cannot play a commercial DVD Player, then I would suggest you returned it for a refund, or exchange for another player. It's nice to know what's wrong with it, but the main issue is ... this is a "DVD Player" and not a VCD Player that can play DVD.
Cheers,
