  1. I have just purchased a dvd burner(liteon) I want to burn the odd dvd movie ,instead of 2 cd's I thought 1 dvd, (vcd)
    I also want to store data and mp3's on the larger format of dvd, is this successful for data storage, and are there any special needs I should have , ??

  2. yes u can store data on a dvd media..it just like creating a data cd..just get good old nero and you will be set to make a data dvd

  3. Thanks for that !! a little load of my mind ,does the same apply for mp3's I guess If I only want to stre them . how about palying on stand alone. which will play a cd full of mp3, I read some thing about 99 files ?? folders ??

  4. well i enver store mp3s on a dvd yet and played them on ym dvd player but i guess it will work....to test it out use a DVDRW..soo u can write over it if it doesnt work

  5. My stand alone player is a panasonic dvd ***32 and will not support dvd-rw only -R and very limited range , so RW are out of the question at this stage storage was my main concern

  6. No...You can't play mp3s from a DVDR on a standalone


    You would have to convert them to 48 Hz PCM WAV and create a DVD compliant Audio disc to play them.



    Storing them as Data is fine for backup purposes.

    Not true. My Norcent DP-300 plays DVD-MP3s (I just burn the MP3s as data and the standalone recognizes the directory and file structure.) In addition, it plays them from DVD-R, DVD+R, DVD-RW, DVD+RW, AND CD-R and CD-RW. This is the type of functionality you can't generalize (I wouldn't even assume that all versions of the DP-300 behave the same).

    That should read you cant play mp3's from a DVDR on many standalone DVD players. There are some however that will play mp3s from a DVDR. My Akura will.
