  2. This is sort of a roundabout way, but it's how I do it and doesn't require any software. Once you get to the page where the video is and you get it to play, look in your temporary internet files. If you have real player installed on your machine then you'll see the real player icon in your temporary internet files. That will give you the url where the file actually is.
What I do is copy that url and post it to a web page of my own and then right click and choose "save as." It's sort of what you said you didn't want, but it works since you're not getting the link from their page and you're getting it from a link on your page. It takes all of 2 minutes to do. Try it this way, by posting your own link. It works for me.

gambit32, that will work for realmedia files being served via http. But for most sites that use RealServer pnm, rtps, (or whatever the protocol is), that won't work. The only thing that will work is StreamBox VCR. This gem of a tool will download RealVideo streams from ANY server. StreamBox VCR is extremely hard to find since Real took them to court and forced them to stop producing software that can do this.

If you goto the link I provided you will see the links to play the Iron Monkey trailer.
Is there a way to download it? I have tried and can't get it to download.
I even tried Streambox VCR and it did not work!

NeVeRLiFt, I've found that some streaming websites do some funky things (intentionally or accidentally) that make it a little tricky to get StreamBox VCR to grab it. What I have found that works in those instances is to allow RealPlayer to play the videoclip.

Then, run regedit and browse the registry to the following key:

    My_Computer\HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Software\RealNetwork s\RealPlayer\6.0\Preferences\MostRecentClips1\

THAT will be the actual URL for the video clip... take THAT URL and feed it to StreamBox.

Obviously if you are running a different version of RealPlayer the registry key will be different, but you get the idea.

    Hi everyone
I'm also interested on downloading a couple of Nikka Costa's rm videos, and want to thank you for putting this info here.
Anyway, I've been unable to find the Streambox VCR program. Instead, I found a program called "Streambox Ripper" at Morpheus. Is it the same program?
    Thanks in advance

Found the following file at morpheus:

    StreamBox VCR 1 Beta 31.exe (745 kb).

    Is this one "the one"?
    Thanks

For asf or wmv/wma streems(Windows Media) use ASF Recorder. Just search "asf recorder" on yahoo.
