  2. my friend told me that all Ritek DVD+R that sells in the US or else where are all left over from Ricoh. Now this just proves it, cause it reads Ricoh's code... shame... Ricoh sells high price under other brand name like HP and indeed, the price for their disc should be low...

Thankx for the code, where did u get the media from??? is it good media?

The supposedly 8x burns at 6x with the nec 2500a as does the 4x. What is going on is that the 2 places I bought the 8x media at has excactly the same media code as the 4x, which one would think they are selling 4x and advertising at 8x. That's what it seams like to me. I just don't think the media code for 8x should be the same for 4x. The media burned fine and the backup played fine

  4. Actually this is old news, and Ritek shipped the 4X DVD+R discs as 8X, and you can find out more from the following link:

Meritline made good on their promise to straighten this stuff out. Here's the email Ritek sent them:

    December 17, 2003

  5. Ritek 8x DVD+R should have either RITEK...R03 or possibly RICOHJPNR02 mid code. Although RICOHJPNR01 burns @8x on some writers it's only 4x media and selling it as 8x media is scam.

  6. OK, the following link contains info on Ricoh's genuine 8X DVD+R discs, with the Manufacturer ID of RICOHJPNR02, supposedly manufactured by RiTEK:

Thanks for the info Synergy!!! The media was bought from ekatomi.com and Mertline. They didn't send me the true 8x media they advertised. Ekatomi also had 8x Ricoh but I tried the Ritek instead and got 4x media. I'd sent them a email telling them of the same codes with the 8 and 4x media and they replied with ( in caps ) that it is 8x media. Won't get my business again.

Back before Christmas I placed an order with Meritline for Ritek 8x DVD+R media. They sent me Ricoh 4x DVD+R media. The pisser is that they had been informed by Ritek about a week before I placed my order that the media was mislabeled. They sold it to me anyway. It took me days to get anyone on the phone. I also got the story that they were the same and better actually. I got them to send UPS to pick up the media. They have had it back almost a week and no refund yet.

MERITLINE is on my list of NEVER do business with again. They sold me media that they knew was not correct for a premium price and then tried to hide it.
