  1. I just extracted the audio and saved as a wav file, then i followed this tutorial https://www.videohelp.com/tmpgencdvd.htm to help me convert.

The following morning i check out the converted film and media player plays the sound but no picture (which is strange cos the original film on cd plays fine on the pc). Than i open it up in V-Dub to check the properties and V-dub says there are no video frames found in the Mpeg file. I did specify an audio and video source when using TMPGEnc, so i don't know what happened.

    Anyone help please...

The frames are there, it is just TMPGEnc had problems rendering them. Try to run TMPGEnc again, using a short sample clip this time, and refer to this article, particularly the part about the empty (black) preview window. Oh, and welcome to the forum!

  3. Hello there TK,
I was just checking what codecs i got with avicodec and it says that i have DIV3 & DIV4 codec but under vendor it says hacked with joy! Could this be the problem , not having the non-hacked codecs? If so where can i get the proper DIV3-4.

Did you update your Environmental settings in TMPGEn's VFAPI table? That is what you are supposed to be doing. You can add DviX codecs until the cows come home, but until you make the Direct Show priority the number one priority in TMPGEnc, you may well be looking at its blank screen ad infinitum. Please post when you have done so. Adding codecs does no good at this point.

  7. I'm gonna try to TMPGEnc it again. When the wizard comes up do you have to make sure the output file is PAL if the source is PAL, or if the source is NTSC make sure the output file is NTSC. Do you get what i mean?

Yes, unless you are converting from one to the other. If the video is not present in the AVI, it won't be present in the MPEG either.
