  1. I am using MainConcept 1.4. What I should select for 'deinterlancing'; none, use top field or use bottom field? My input file is tv-captured avi (divx?) or mpg file.

    Thank you.

you dont need to deinterlance if you are going to watch the finished product on tv,deinterlacing reduces picture quality and your tv will display the picture with out the comb effect you see on the pc monitor.

  3. I don't understand why everyone claims that. It's BS. I always make sure my movies are deinterlaced because the lines show up on my tv the same way as the pc. I apply the filter and no quality loss, just erases the lines.

Are you encoding as interlaced ? Should display fine on a tv if its done right.

Buddha says that, while he may show you the way, only you can truly save yourself, proving once and for all that he's a lazy, fat bastard.

If you have TMPGEnc you can:
    1. Load your interlaced video.
    2. Click the "Settings" button.
    3. Goto the "Advanced" tab.
    4. Double-Click on the "DeInterlace" option.

Now for the really cool part...

    5. Select the method drop-down and you can use the arrows on your keyboard to scroll through all of the selections.

This gives you a great example of what DeInterlacing does to your video. I was really supprised at how much of a difference the method makes.

I don't understand why everyone claims that. It's BS.
First you don't understand it , and then you claim it's BS which
would require that you understand it.

It came in interlaced. It looks OK on the TV . Why would
just capturing it as is not be the best way ?
And why wouldn't the recording look exactly the same on your TV.
    You are doing something wrong.

If you always make sure it's de-interlaced then you need to post your methods
because it's a BIG problem that experts have been working on for years.

You really need to figure out what's going wrong. You lose a lot of "sharpness" by deinterlacing.
