I have a DVD5 with two home movies on, and I want to create a DVD5 with just one of them on.
Is it possible, and could someone point me to a guide?
There doesn't appear to be anything over on the left (except a dvdshrink two movies to two disks).
Many thanks,
Will

Hi Will.
You could use DVD Shrink "Re-author" mode.
With v2.3:
http://www.dvdshrink.info/re-author.php
With v3.0b5: http://www.dvdshrink.info/re-author-v3beta5.php
P.S: if DVD Shrink does not want to rip your disc (it happens sometimes with "home-made" DVDs), simply rip first with DVD Decrypter in "File" mode.

Many thanks, I'll check it out

You're very welcome.
Please let us know how you get along. -
I haven't had chance to test my original thread intent but (this week) I've downloaded and used Shrink for a conventional DVD process and I have to say I'm stunned at the ease of use and final output quality.
The facility to change the quality level with the slider, select full disk, movie only or main movie and selected extra's is incredible.
Bravo and thank you to the author.

Thanks for the positive feedback, Will, it is fully appreciated.
DVDShrink.info v2.0 has just been released.
More guides and goodies to come. -
You could also rip the movie with DVD Decrypter in ifo mode, then use TMPGenc Author, open DVD video and create simple menus.

I welcome suggestions about DVDShrink.info, but if you meant DVD Shrink itself I'm not its author.
More importantly, its development has been ended and future releases will only be about bug fixes, translations and help files; no new features will be added.

Are the rumours true, the author has been offered a job by....
(...this part purpously left blank).
If so = 8)
Anyway, my suggestion (now it doesn't matter) was simply that I'm one of those weirdo's who doesn't burn at the end of a DVD-r.
Insane I know, but I suffered stuttering early on in my learning process, never figured it, leant towards media but at the back of my mind feared disk capacity.
"Hell, it stutters at the end of the disk, right?!"
I was going to suggest the author offer a 'file/preferences' otpion to limit every burn/output to a designated size, like 4200mb for instance.
I know you can slide that bad boy slider a little back but it was just a thought.
You take care, southern boy

Come on, Will, get on with the program!!
The option to change the target size has been available for a while (back to v2.3 I think).
"Edit >> Preferences >> Target DVD size".

Oh shit-the-bed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Man, do I feel dozy
Okay you bastard, get it to bring me a cuppa at 7am each weekday
Thanks!

I'm using the super-dooper encoding option now, the (and the exact phrase is lost on me at the moment) option to check the thing before it does it's thing which produces faster results but takes a little longer.
Man, it does take longer, doesn't it?
My first try with shrink was mind-blowing, 35-ish minutes from start to finish (no burn), now that was fast!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm guessing there's a big benefit in this super-dooper option, right?
(I'm old, I have time to wait)

"...which produces faster results but takes a little longer."
It actually produces better results but takes longer.
The benefits are two-fold:
- better quality backups when a fairly high level of compression is used ("ratio" < 80%).
- better estimate of the titles size (less chances of an under/oversize backup).
For some technical info about the super-dooper (a.k.a "Deep analysis"), I'd suggest you read dvdshrink's post in the following thread:

I will, thanks
