    Walmart.com has 4X Maxell DVD +R and DVD-R on sale for $19.97 for a 10-pack with jewel cases.
    I have seen the Maxell 4X DVD +R 10-packs in the Wal-Mart stores, but I have never seen the DVD-R 4X disks. DVD-R 2X yes, but 4X no.

    If you could get them on a 15- or 25-disk spindle, the price per disk would be cheaper. I don't need any more damn jewel cases. I have boxes full of them already.
    But $2 each for true 4X Maxell IS a good deal, even if you do have to put up with the damn jewel cases.

  6. They are also sold at my local walmart. Well local is a bad choice of words. I live in the woods so anything local may not be the same for me as others... its in another state. A state with no sales tax. So they maybe sold at other non online walmarts. Also at a local staples they are having a sale for 10 packs of maxtell for 9.98 or close. Might just be a local sale but worth checking out.

    The only thing Staples.com shows for Maxells is a 5-pack for $20.99. The +Rs are 2.4X and the -Rs are 2X. If your local Staples is selling 4X Maxell 10-packs for $9.98, I would buy as many as I could.
    However, since hardly anybody, especially Staples, beats Wal-Mart prices by even a little bit, let alone half the price, I kind of doubt that what you saw were 4X Maxell. *Maybe* 2X or 2.4X Maxell, but that would be 1/4 the price of their website. More likely you saw Memorex. They both have "M" and "x" in their names.

  8. You might be right on the staples brand. I was going off memory and my mind does not remember name brands or any sort of name well. So your more then likely right.

    @K(c)offee;
    I was kind of hoping you were right, somehow. That's why I checked the Staples.com website. I have a Staples a few miles away, and I was going to run out there and buy out the store if it was true.

  10. LOL sorry to give you false hope and joy. Anyway are memorex DVDs good enough to get for about a doller each? I was thinking of getting a few boxes of them. Seemed like a good deal for around a doller each with cases. I dont have a box full of them so i find the case part helpful.

  11. The Memorex 4x +R are made by Ricoh,if you don't need jewel cases BestBuy has a 50pk for $50 and CompUSA has 25pk for $25.
    @ebenton,
    Are Maxell +R made by TY? You can send me all your jewel cases.

    @MOVIEGEEK;
    I have never bought 4X Maxell DVDs before. They've always been too expensive. Even at Walmart, they were about $25.00 for a 10-pack before, which was just a little bit more than I was willing to spend. Now I just have to find the time to stop there and buy some. I might order the -Rs from Walmart.com, since I can't seem to find the 4X DVD-R Maxells at either of the two Walmart Supercenters in my area.
    If you really want the jewel cases, let me know. I will count them and see how many I have and a keep a handful and send you the rest at the cheapest postage I can buy. I hate to just throw them away, but I don't have much use for them, either.

    I lied. I did have some Maxell 4X DVD +R disks. The manufacturer's code for them reads RICOHJPNR01.

    Well when you burn over 200 Memorex 4X DVD-R's at $1 a piece with no problems @ 4X, I don't see what the good deal is with these Maxells if the end result (playing perfectly in DVD-ROM and stand alone players) is the same!

    I buy 200-packs of RITEKG04 for less than $1 each. But when quality is important, $2 for a MXLRG01 or MXLRG02 is money well spent.

    @fslove;
    If you would post a list of the media and the prices about which you deem worthy of being notified, I will, in the future, make sure that I don't post anything about any sales on media that don't meet your requirements.

    Bits are bits, so I would like to know how Maxell's MXL Discs can enhance bits (and improve upon video/audio quality) over others like Memorex or other brand name discs that can be had for $1 a piece. If a $1 a piece brand name can burn perfectly and a $2 MXL does so as well (and both have perfect burn all the time), what makes the MXL so much better to warrant the doubling of price?

  19. I think its more of a safety net things. They know the 2 doller ones will burn 100% of the time. No doubt at all. No testing needed after doing so. While they dont trust the doller ones 100% of the time and would need to test the results. I assume I could be wrong.

    I just stopped off at Office Dept. They are selling 15-pack spindles of Maxell 4X DVD-R and 4X DVD+R for $26.97. That's $1.80 per disk with no jewel cases, which is cheaper than Wal-Mart's $2.00 per disk in jewel cases. Maybe about the same if you figure 20 cents for a jewel case.
    I bought one 15-pack of each.
    The 4X Maxell DVD-R have media code of: MXLRG02
    The 4X Maxell DVD+R have media code of: RICOHJPNR01
