  1. I recently purchased cyberhome 400 and have had no problems with it until last night, when i play back region 1 disc's (I'm am in the UK and have done the remote hack to make the player region free). I get a stuttering on the picture, i also get this on some disc's i have backed up. I know its not the disc's as they play fine on my friends payer and also from PC.

    anyone got any suggestions?

  2. Have solved my own problem!

Changing the output in the menu from PAL to MULTI or NTSC seams to have solved the problem.

Could someone give me a reason why?

    Hi jason7761,

The video format for Europe is called "PAL" (can't remember what it stands for, check out the Glossary on this site, I'm sure it'll say). This defines the picture size and the number of frames per second etc. (probably loads of technical stuff too).

The video format for North America is called "NTSC" and defines the same things, but with different numbers. e.g. frames per second in NTSC-Land is 29.97 vs PAL-Land being 25.

Europe is Region 2, and so will be in PAL format.

North America is in Region 1 and so will be in NTSC format.

The Region 1 played OK on your mate's DVD probably coz it's set to detect which format the disk is and play in that mode.

Also, your friend's PC may have some software which makes it multi-region (DVD Region Free is one of those).
There is some corner of a foreign field that is forever England: Telstra Stadium, Sydney, 22/11/2003.
