It stops people spamming the distribution list, which is a good thing, in my book

To be fair, the description of the group says what it does

I started this group to converse with other owners Cyberhome DVD Recorders. This is group is not affiliated in any way with the company that manufactures Cyberhome Products. This is an un-Official support group made up of consumers.

- if you don't own the recorder in question, it probably isn't for you

Some of the best work ever goes on in Yahoo Groups - the discovery of how to disassemble ESS chipset DVD firmware, porting one player's firmware to loads of other machines, etc, etc is just the tip of the iceberg.

I will always support owners' groups like this, although I just have a minor interest, simply because the chipset is the same as the one on the soon-come Maxent (previously Sampo) DVD recorders.
