  1. What writing parameters do you need to write divx to CD using Nero so that it can be successfully read by the Lite-on DVD player?

Nero for me is defaulted to: checked - multisession Should multisession be checked?

Otherwise I assume I lay it down as a data CD such as "move one.avi".

Can the Lite-on play the most common divx format 5.0.2 or 5.0.3?

    Thanks

I may be burning about 40 divx movies, so I want to be sure to do it right.

Multisession should only be checked if you are going to add files later to the disc. Otherwise, you should check "no multisession" and use DAO mode (disc at once) to be sure the disc will be read. You won't need to add files anyway, if they are close to 700MB they will use up all the space on the disc in any case, so there's no need for multisession.

Yes, the LiteOn can play DivX 5.0.5 and 5.1.1 without difficulty. Also XviD and DivX 4, but has some problems with certain DivX 3.11 files. Depending on bitrate, those may or may not play properly.

  3. What Rounadabout says. In Nero, set for Disc At Once, No Multisession and Finalize the disc (I guess this is no multisession). If you don't Finalize, then the player may not read it.

If you have Nero Express, it's so easy now to do data discs. Open a new Data disc, add your file(s), the click Next. When you get to the screen where you can change the Disc Name (default=MyDisc), there is a button at the bottom called More Options. Click that. Change Track at Once to Disc At Once and Click the Finalize disc box. Click Burn and you;re off to the races.
