  1. Hi, hope everyone had a great christmas and new year

My prob is that i'm looking for advice on which DVD burner to buy. I have £100 now but i could save a bit more if it is going to be worth it. The things i want to consider are:

    Broad media compatability
    DVD player compatability

I'm not too fussed about speeds and am maybe more inclined to go for
a minus format burner ( but i'm open to suggestions )

My main DVD player is a "Cyberhome CH 400" which plays my SVCD's fine (and, so i have been told, a variety of CD-R brands) but i have not tried any DVD-R's in it.

"Pioneer" seem to be very popular / compatable burners and my friend has told me it might be worth saving a little bit more and getting a "Plextor"

Hope i've given enough info for ppl to help me in this coz its a bit of a nightmare and i aint that rich <lol>

    Thx ppl

  2. DVD player compatibility will have more to do with how you are burning and what software and less with the actual burner, but all factors are important.

Broad media compatibility I would have to say Pioneer, as it likes cheap and expensive media equally. Sony is a bit more picky, will burn some cheap media but likes the expensive stuff more. I have the Pioneer A05 & the Sony 510A.

I'm sure others will chime in with other choices.

  3. Thx m8, i think i might well go for a DVR-A06 as its well priced and seems to be a good all rounder when it comes to media

P.S. I'm using Nero Express 5.5 at the mo but when i get this new burner i may think about using different software to burn my DVD backups with any suggestions ?
