  1. I made a dvd-r from a dvd recorder.
my dvd player is a toshiba sd-2109.. I tried the disk in the player, and it tells me to check the disk.
the list on here says it should accept that disk. & yes I did finalize the disk.
it plays ok on my sony burner/player... but the sound is weak.

    any ideas?

  2. I own a Toshiba SD-3900 and have had very poor success getting DVD-Rs I've made in my Panasonic DMR-E80H to play successfully.

The discs play fine in the recorder, in my PC, and in my Cyberhome -- but the Toshiba will constantly have problems with the DVD-Rs. The discs will often lock up after a few minutes, or you won't be able to scan with chapter markers ahead to the end.

Perhaps the Toshiba's aren't so good at playing -Rs after all if you're having some of the same issues.

  3. That player is 5 years old. Considering it can't even read CDRs, don't be surprised that it won't take DVDrs either.

I've got the same one i'm basically just going to buy another one, but for now my PS2 will have to do.

I own an SD2700 and my DVDs play back perfectly IF I use a good quality media (such as ritek) and burn at lower speeds. At higher speeds or on poor media it just craps out.

  5. the problem is probably due to how the recorder (not you) makes the dvdr. The panny's (I ahve the e30) make a dvd that doesnt play on some of my dvd players.

The workaround is to take the video made on the panny and rip it down on your computer. Then, use tmpgenc dvd author to reauthor the dvd and reburn it on a new dvdr. Do an author search for either me or a user by the name of donpedro and there will be a number of posts that talk about the issue and how to fix it.
