I have a Sony dvd player and a macrovision eliminator. I'm looking for a second player that will allow me to backup my dvds (and anything else I might need). If anyone could help, I'd really appreciate it.

Instead of 2 players, you need recorder

Anyway.... best way to make copy of DVD is DVD Writer (one that is used in PC). That is what I do when I need to make copy of my home video for different people in family.

I agree. Rip the DVD to your hard drive, compress it if you need to and write it to a DVD. All done in digital, no digital to analog and back to digital like you would need if using a player-recorder combination. The quality would not even compare.

The opposite of what you propose is not that bad. You must have the devices to compare. I have had no complaints.

Of course comparing a player feeding a stand alone.

If your PC is to slow for the price of building a new PC would be the best bet. www.pricewatch.com but if you do not want to use the PC. I would get the Panasonic E80h from www.6ave.com has a 80gig hard drive. If you do not want the hard drive version ge the E80H or APEX I have heard has a very good picture. I'm think about buying another E80H or APEX now.
