  1. I am trying to convert an XVID file to SVCD. The file parameters are:

    Video
    XVID Mpeg-4
    1677 Kbps
    25 fps (PAL)
    784 X 336 ( 2.21:1 )
    Audio
    95 Kbps
    44100
    2 chan
    MPEG Layer-3

I used VirtualDub to demux the audio and am using TMPGENC for conversion. So far I have had no luck in converting this to anything that will play on my Apex DVD player. Can anyone direct me to an appropriate How to Guide or offer some tips?

    Thanks.

What kind of settings did you use in TMPGenc for the files you created, and exactly how did you burn them to disc?

  3. First I tried not using the templates and setting the aspect ratio to 784 X 386 as an NTSC. I converted the entire 700M segment. I viewed it with PowerDVD on the PC and it looked just fine. Then I used VCDEasy to make bin/cue and burned it. It showed up as a VCD on the player but was green and torn. I assumed this was because the player expects a standard aspect ratio.

Then I got smart and extracted a 1 minute segment to experiment with and burned to CD-RW from then on. I then used the TMPGENC template for SVCD/NTSC. I have set the aspect ratio at 16:9 and at 4:3 but both show up as full screen. Both were burned as SVCD with Nero. I also tried the 2.21:1 (Display) setting but no luck there either. I would just like to get this letterboxed somehow.

    Thanks.

On the "Advaced" setting tab, change the video arrange method to "Full Screen(keep aspect ratio)".
