Ok here my problem.... Yes i know you have all read these a 100 times but this is different... My nec 1300a burns great when i am making a back up of a movie. using dvd decrypter and dvd shrink.. works great in alot of dvds players and even in my lg 8162b dvd rom. But when i attempt to back up that movie image to my hard drive again i get an error.
In nero 6.0 it is a error reading media
In record max i get job complete but with errors.
dvd decrypter quits and gives me an error as well.
I have use at least 6 diff media types all have similar problems. Here is the kicker it does not do it with all movies that i back up just some. where am i going wrong?

DVDDecryptor has known and acknowledged bugs with an NEC 1300a. Specifically it doesn't support buffer underrun (don't do ANYTHING when burning).
Are you saying it's giving you erros ripping? That's common, it comes from scratched disks. Use toothpaste to clean your disk (finger, warm water, and center to edge, not circular motion). Alternately use DVDDecryptor to rip, but tell it to ignore errors at 2 tries. This will cause pixleization at the scratch points but it works. To Be, Or, Not To Be, That, Is The Gazorgan Plan -
have you updated your firmware? are you using dvd shrink 3 beta 5?

DUDE!
I'm having the same problem (kinda it sounds close....)
OKAY -
I can back-up ANY of my official DVD's ripping with my NEC 1300a firmware 1.07 with dvd decrypter and dvd shrink.
BUT,
It will not make an image of the back-up DVDr with Nero or anything else I tried - NOR will it rip with dvd decrypter OR dvd shrink (both are current versions just downloaded about 3 days ago) I get the same error.
These ARE JUST burned and NEVER even removed from the NEC 1300a drive.
I've tried different media Apple, Maxell, Xtreme and Princo almost all will rip on my friend Pioneer (A???) -
ANY Idea whats up?

I have similar problem as you guy.. Can't even rip back the burned copies of my collection DVD in different media.
I use DVDdecrypter & CloneDVD on NEC ND1300A (firmware offical 1.08 autoreset). The burned copies play OK on stand-alone DVD player even on NEC ND1300A playback. But when I read it back using DVD decrypter it gave me error; Same thing happens using NEro & even on my other PC DVD reader Toshiba SD100W.
I use media PRINCO then switch to RITEK G04 (under name Ridata) still same problem. I even use DVDInfo pro to diagnose the disks and , man, it give me sector errors too.
Then I upgrade DVD decrypter & NEC ND1300A firmware to 1.09, still unable to read it successfully. Yesteday, I switch to firmware (Herrie's hacked special holiday version of 1.08 V2 - newest) and give it a try. Still same problem.
My question is the media caused the problem or the drive itself is the culprit when writing to the DVD disk? Anyway to avoid this in the future ?
Much appreciated your input. -
IMO...drop the NEC and get a Pioneer...and no refurbs!
