    Hi Guys,

I'm new to dvd copying, so please bare with me. I'm sure I'm going to ask a few questions that have been asked here a million times before. I just bought a dvd writer LG 4081B and I'm using Dvd Shrink version 3.1 and Nero version 6.3.0.2. I am currently using Mirage media which is rated at 4x. After I have shrank the dvd, and proceed to burn it with Nero, I am unable to select a writing speed greater then 2x. To my understanding, the writer I have can burn at 4x, why am I only able to select 2x as a writing speed?

    Thanks

    John

Update your firmware if there is a newer version as this lets more types of dvd brands be burned at the rated speeds.

There are always Media/Burner compatibility issues. You cannot substitute quality media when you are burning your pride and joy onto them. Without knowing the brand I'll bet this is what it is. You can test it by buying other brands and see what happens.
    If in doubt, Google it.

  4. What type of media are you using? My Pioneer 105 burner will not recognize all 4x media as 4x. I updated the firmware like many suggested and that did not do it either. So I eventually had to use a hacked firmware and that did the trick and I have not had a problem since. The fact that your drive will not recognize a 4x media does not necessarily mean that you are using a cheap brand. I was using Ritek G04's and it still did not recognize it above 2x until I used the hacked firmware.

SoCal, Im having the exact same problem as you, my Pioneer 105 is giving me the exact same trouble, and the firmware upgrade didn't help me at all. Any chance on telling us what firmware you used, or where you got it? (This is NOT a request, mods, just trying to work out a solution for a similar problem Im having.)
