I use Nero 5.5 and after the disc finishes burning, the disc ejects automatically. It has begun doing this fairly recently, and didn't do this before when I burned with the same circumstances. A warning message comes up saying it has to wait for the disc to be inserted again for verification to continue. And it inserts the disc automatically after a few seconds and finishes the process.

The disc is burned fine, but I wanna know how to stop Nero from ejecting the disc after it burns, so the warning message doesnt have to come up everytime.

Yeah, I know I can de-select that function. But I actually still want it to verify the CD, to ensure everything has been burned properly.

Is there any other setting to stop the disc from ejecting before it verifies the disc?

  4. As far as I know, Nope. The drive is locked as part of the burning process. It has to be ejected and re-inserted to unlock thedrive for reading.

Ripper2860 is correct. You can't have it both ways.

But I don't remember Nero having to do this when I burn VCDs or SVCDs. It only ejects the disc when I burn a Data CD. Why is this?
    Quote Quote
  7. Because VCD and SVCD's CD's are not DATA CD's and are not verified. They do not have the CRC info required for verification. They do not adhere to DATA CD standards. That is why you can fit 800MB of VCD/SVCD on a 700MB CD.

While it is 1's and 0's and DATA to you and me -- it is not in a DATA CD format and is not treated like a CD containing DATA.

BTW -- I use Nero 5.5.10 and it verfies my DATA burns for CD-R and CD-RW, but not IMAGE files and VCD/SCVD. It also opens and closes the door prior to verification.

That's the funniest thing I've seen all night, though I should lay off the booze myself!

The chick with the chain is a character named GoGo from the movie Kill Bill Volume I.

My version of Nero 5.5.10 never ejects the disk between burn and verification. Never has done.

  12. I have 5.5.6.9. go to preferences under file, expert features and check the box that says don't eject, mine stays closed no matter what I burn.

  13. chuck it in the bin and download the latest version, pretty sure you can find a newer version somewhere .... *removed link*

  15. I've been to that panel a GAZILLION times and have overlooked that. I will check to see if it applies to verifications (I'm sure it probably does) and will post my official -- "I guess I did not know what the hell I was talking about" apology.

Hey -- the only way to not make mistakes is to do nothing, unless of course it is your job to do something and you caught doing nothing, then that would be a mistake. At least the "getting caught" part would be.

OK -- my head hurts. I'm off to bed !!

I'd gladly admit if I was wrong but I have had it set to not eject since I updated to version 6 and it still ejects when verifying. It just doesn't eject if I dont verify.

Also check a few different drives. It may well be that some drives will eject on their own when they are unlocked after burning, and some may not. Even with that box checked it could be variable by drive and firmware whether you get the opening on unlock or not.

  18. Well -- I checked the box and it had no effect on my CD Burner opening before a verfication. Maybe it is drive related.

Thanks FKrueger and rhegedus. I went into the preferences and the box was unchecked. So I'll see if this fixes the problem the next time I burn a Data CD.
