  1. first off...i have DVD+R....and i am getting the hint by reading this forum i need DVD-R...the guy at Target said they are the same except for burning speeds.

Also I'd like to know if i can burn a .bin file on a DVD and have it play in my DVD player. If not, what do I need to convert it to.

If this has already been posted, can someone direct me to that topic because I searched and couldn't find anything.

    Thanks.

  5. lol yes target...for now anyways

i am pretty much broke, and i had a $20 gift card to target....can u blame me? what else am i gonna buy there?

    anyways....
    i have:

    G4 iMac
    800MHz
    60 GB
SuperDrive (DVD-R, CD-RW) <---i just looked up those specs...so that answered my +/- question

in the movie folder i have...all the different sections are compressed in .rar format...when i decompress them there is a .bin file and .cue file...i am guessing i have to convert them to something to be able to burn it onto a DVD....i also may want to convert .mov, .avi, or .mpg to .VOB (or whatever i need to convert to to watch it.)

    yes i have another question:

is a (S)VCD only good for storing or can i play the movie on my computer/dvd player/PS2?

fyi...my main goal is to be able to watch the movie on a DVD Player or my Playstation 2...i want to learn what ever it takes to make that happen.

    Thanks.

well this is borderline warez because SVCD's that are .rared are usually downloaded! SO BE CAREFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

yet there is my website with a SVCD to DVD guide.

just get the all the .bin/.cue's together and follow the instructions

you can return the +r disks to target (strange isnt it how most retail stores only sell +r and the salesmen/women know NOTHING about them!)

its pretty easy process of SVCD to DVD

SVCD is a movie format. your looking at quality conversions
    VCD is pretty low
Divx is decent (can be hq if you know what you are doing)
SVCD is high-quality (when done properly)
    DVD is high quality (obviously)

there are other formats, KVCD, xVid but you get the idea.

you can burn and watch SVCD movies on certain dvd players (ps2 i dont think so) but that player has to have SVCD in its specs (use DVD PLAYER tab in OTHER off to the <----- of your screen)

you can use VLC (www.videolan.org) to watch the .bin files on your comptuer.

again.. since these are .raed and yielding a .bin/.cue set I suspect its a downloaded movie (whose discussion on this site is not allowed)

SO as a newbie, be careful!
