  1. Simple question really but i'm confussed ;(

Can you play a Backed up DVD (Normal Film eg: Platoon) on a PS2 stright out of the box ie NO MODS/ CHIPS or SWAPS just a Virgin PS2 ??

The film has been backed up onto a Ritek -R 4x DVD (Orange label) and plays ok in Other Players.

My PS2 version according to the info is a SCH00003

    Huhhuh... That's what *she* said.

Why do people type the word "please" (6 letters) but do not want to type the word "people" (6 letters), and instead use "PPL"? I guess typing 12 letters in a row (not counting the space bar) is way too much effort compared to typing 9 letters in a row, while holding down the shift key for 3 of them.

According to the above link, which I found in the DVD Players list to the left, a Sony Playstation 2 should play backup DVD movies burned on DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD+R, DVD+RW ... Your movie backed up to a Ritek - R SHOULD play in the PS2 given everything else is o.k. (i.e., the burn went o.k., the method to backup the movie was correct, ect.)

  6. RKR is right however the ps2 is very picky about the type of media used.
    If it's wet, drink it

  7. The playability on a PS2 depends on the laser inside and type of media used.

I have a first gen PS2(north american and Japanese) and so far I have been successfully able to play movies from the following media:

    Fuji
    TDK
    Maxell
    Philips
