I have a Pioneer DVR-106D as my DVD burner and i also have a Samsung dvd-rom/cdrw. Ive already made some frisbees and coasters with them. I have Nero 6 and DVD X Copy Xpress. I am burning on Maxell DVD+Rs.
With one or two attempts with X Copy Xpress the program goes through its process fine and then I put the burnt dvd in my dvd player and I get nothing. When i put it in my dvd-rom it looks blank. Visibly you can tell that the bottom of the disc is burned on. Whats going wrong?
Someone suggested using a decrypter to get rid of copyright encoding then burning with an alternate program. I used DVD Decrypter and now have a 7.8gb folder in my documents.
Can anyone tell me how to fix the first problem or tell me how to fit that 7.8 gb folder on to a 4.7 DVD+R. Thanks all.

Did you finalise the disc after burning? My first DVD-R was a coaster for this reason.
For compressing ripped DVDs for backup, I like DVDShrink. It's a good application. You'll find good guides on this site that will help with this.
Try finalising the discs. Use a DVD+/-RW until you're happy you're not going to burn any more bad discs.
Good luck!

I went to Samsung's website, and it appears that your Samsung SM-352B DVD-ROM doesn't recognize DVD +R disks. The website reads, "Supporting DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD-RAM Discs Read".
You did not say what your standalone DVD player is, but I would suspect that maybe it will not read DVD +R either.
Since you are using Maxell, I doubt that it is a media problem.
Try using DVD-R disks, or better yet, DVD-RW until you are confident you will not burn any more coasters. -

Therefore, I'd say your issue is going to either be with copy xpress or with some setting in Nero. Are you using DVD-Video mode in Nero? Are you putting ONLY the bups, ifos and vob's into the VIDEO_TS folder that Nero provides?
You didn't list your technique for burning, so I dunno what you may be doing wrong. As Cobra mentioned, I'd dump copy xpress and use sumthin free (and better) like DVD Shrink.
My Samsung has been able to read every disc I've put in it, and it rips at anywhere from 6x to 11x. An excellent drive IMO.
My 2 cents
