Putting TV shows on DVD

I've been waiting for one of my favorite TV shows to be put onto DVD, but the network is nowhere near about to do it, so I figured I'd do it myself. I am downloading the episodes off of Kazaa, so they are in mpg format. I have never authored a DVD before so can anyone tell me the best method for putting these shows on DVD? I want to try to get 5-6 eps per disk. I also want to make custom menues for the DVD, what's the best size to make my menu pic so that it looks good on my TV?

well I am useing the TMPEG method, and it's taking over 12 hours to convert a 22 minute episode. Do you know of anything faster?
