    Hi Everyone.

I have 5 different DVD players.
When I make my DVD-r's, some play in a copule players,
while not playing in the others.

    I'm using TMPGENC Author.
I've tried using different audio formats with varying
    success. Wav, mpg, and ac3(Soundforge).
I've yet to make a disc that plays with ALL of my players.
My question is this. IS it more likely the MEDIA or the AUTHORING
that is screwing up my compatibility???
I've only used TDK and Princo.

    BTW..
I bought a music video on Ebay which turned out to be a DVD-r
bootleg, but, it plays in ALL of my players. How did this guy do it?
Don't know the brand of his media.

    Thanks in advance.

It's most likely a media problem but some of the older DVD players might not be compatible with mpeg DVD audio.

You can download DvdInfoPro to find out the media code of your eBay disc.

  3. It's media. There are a few disks out there that seem to play back great on everything. Out of my 4 DVD players, I have found only 1 disk that ALWAYS plays great on all 4 players. Apex players need better media than do Pioneer or Sanyo DVd players btw.

The best DVD-R media is Taiyo-Yuden.

BEST BUY amoung other retail stores sells a FUJI 10-pack of DVD-R discs that come packaged in full sized CD style jewel cases and this 10-pack says MADE IN JAPAN on the back. These are 4x Taiyo-Yuden DVD-R discs. The other packs of FUJI discs (the cake packs or spindle packs) say MADE IN TAIWAN and are NOT Taiyo-Yuden.

You can also buy 4x Taiyo-Yuden DVD-R discs direct from an on-line source such as RIMA.COM

Second best in my opinion are the retail packs of MAXELL DVD-R discs that say MADE IN JAPAN but these are only 2x DVD-R discs.

    P.S.
The FUJI 10-pack is $24.99 at BEST BUY which is basically $2.50 each but RIMA.COM can get that price down to $1.68 each but you have to buy a 100 pack to get that price.

Wot rot.Stop your bleeting about bad media..all this is better and that is better. All the companies spend millions on media production so if you get a duff one dont bleet on about it and swop to another manufacturer, get off your ass and go straight to the factory Director and give him hell, your next free batch works great!
