Hi guys, thanks for the help before regarding the ASPI drivers.
Anyway, Ive gone for the option of using AutoGordianKnot.
So I installed it (ver 0.8) and all seemed ok, at about 60% it asked me do i want to install AviSynth and SubVOB, so I chose yes. Anyways, I installed each of em but after 100% complete for AviSynth. The installed box turned grey (greyed out) and did nothing.....
meanwhile my other install of AGO, was paused in the bkgrnd behind VOBSUB install. I coul dnot get back to it or let it continue after VOBSUB install (since VOBSUB install had greyed out). So my only option was to END TASK on VOBSUB. Luckily, AGO coninued installation, it now prompted do i want to install AVISYNTH - so i did that. After installing AVISYNTH, it returned and finished install of AGO.
Nice i thought, a few hicups, but all ok i think.
So I used DVD decrypter to get teh VOBs on my HDD. After which, looking at guides, I open AGO to do the compression. But an error appeared saying that AviSynth was not installed (it appeared the hiccup was indeed a bigger hiccup than id hoped).
So I downloaded AviSnth 2.08 and installed that instead. AGO now loaded, GREAT! So I start my compression, and the message appeared (see image).
I have no idea why it would want to have anything to do with VirtualDub at this point (only about 40 secs into the task). I wonder why this is? Or what i can do about it?
Since i cannot progress any further, i wondered if anyone can help with this?
Most appreciated, thanks for your time.

Still a no go on the screen shot. However, don't know if this helps, but ...
The latest version of GKAuto is 0.8 (not sure what version you have) and the version of AVISynth that is supposed to be installed with it is 2.5.3 not 2.08. It may be that the scripts are specific to 2.5.3.
I would try removing and re-installing as my install was glitch free. If you must manually install AVISynth -- install version 2.5.3.
Also -- give VOB sub and AVISynth a little time to complete. The boxes will grey out during installation and sometimes they will sit there for a few a while as things get written to disc.
BTW -- if you do not care about subtitles -- VOB Sub is not needed.
Hope this solves the problem. -
Hi again,
hmmm, strange how my picture didnt display . oh well.
Yes, after your advice, i gutted the whole software setup that i had for this little experiment, and reinstalled, this time not installing VOBSub and giving time to the the AviSynth install. Yippee! it worked!
To rip my dvd from 6.8GB into a 700MB DivX file, took about 11 hours. And what can I say? Its all great apart from---- I made 3 episodes of 25 min duration into 1 file!! ahh! cant believe i didnt sort that before i encoded! gonna probly do it again anywyay.
But thanks for the help, it sorted my problems.
