  1. I am trying to create a photo slideshow for a freind who is currently very ill. Ideally I wanted pictures and music tracks - in such a way that you could see a picture, and listen to a entire (full length) song if you wished or forwarded to the next picture and associated song. From my basic understanding, this isn't going to be possible for me on either CD or DVD..... I have 400 pictures and 400 3-4min songs

If it is possible, any help would be very, very much appreictaed.

    Thanks.

There is one way I know of on how to do this. It could get a bit tedious to compile 400 pictures with one song per image, but it can be done.

    You will need:

    DVD-lab - to author DVD

BeSweet - to transcode your songs to MP2 or another format suitable for DVD authoring.

First you will need to prepare your songs into a suitable audio format that DVD-lab likes. BeSweet has a batch transcode option so converting a hundred songs at a time will be relatively easy.

Run DVD-lab, and import all of your transcoded songs into your Assets bin.

Create a New Slide Show (Slide-Show > Add New) and from within the show window, click on add slide. Select the image you want. To add a song, drag and drop one song from Video & Audio Assets bin into the slide show..

Within the slide show window for that photo - select the Time tab (it has an hour glass on it). Then select Match Slides to Audio Duration.

If you want to add text, you can, select the Text tab and type away.

Once your finished, close that Slide Show window and it will appear as an icon in the Connections window.

Repeat 399 times, adding a new image and new song.

Read the help file on how to link the ROOT menu to the slide show then subsequent slide shows.

This process is like I said tedious, but will achieve what you are after. On the upside, you can press the next key on your DVD remote and go to the next image/song.

    Hope that helps.

  3. You could also do this with Ulead VideoStudio.

  5. I do mine in in pinnacle studio 8. It allows you to place images in a slideshow with transitions place an .mp3 or .wav file over it and then throw it out as an mpeg2 file to place onto your dvd.

    Works great.

Slyce has a good way, but is very tedious. I too would use DVD-Lab for this. But I would split the songs up to say 10 albums of 40 songs. Just drag the 40 songs into your video editor timeline and output just audio to PCM wave (note* keep track of the timecode when each song starts). Do this for each album until you have 10 albums with 40 songs each. Now you can transcode the PCM to MP2 or ac3.

Import the audio files into DVD-Lab assets bin. Create a slideshow for each album using the audio file and 40 images. Set the slide duration to equel the audio. Go into Fine adjust and set each image to start on each new song. Do this for all 10 albums.

Now make a menu with all 10 albums. Have all albums link to the next one when finnished. This way if he starts the video, it will keep playing, but if he wants to change albums, he can hit the menu button and go to the album selection menu. If he just wants to skip to the next song, just hit the next chapter button and it will go to the next picture and song.

I recently did this with my Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin collection, only I used much more comlicated menus. It worked flawlessly.

    Good luck!
Got my retirement plans all set. Looks like I only have to work another 5 years after I die........
