  3. The cyclic redundancy errors normally come when i am burning a backup movie!!

I have read lots of posts and it seems to be popping up with the NEC1300A drive more often than others!!

Though a new drive should sort it out?

  6. Movies are normally downloaded from the torrent network

    Size usually around 4.3GB

and use Nero 6 to burn

When ripping original/backup i use smartripper or DVD Decrypter
then use DVD Shrink for the originals then burn all with nero 6

    Any probs there?

  7. as i said i got cyclic redundancy probs using nero.
u dont need any other ripping programmes when u have dvd shrink.
all i can suggest is that u try another burning prog apart from nero.
x-oom movie clone has ginen me perfect burns

I was having trouble making a copy of a backup when originally ripping with dvdshrink 3.0b5. I reverted to 2.3 and that seemed to solve the problem. I did a test with 3.1 and that was ok also. Have you tried the new version of shrink?

I think that if you are using bulk media then go with the Pioneer. I don't have any problems with my NEC-1300a and I don't really think there is a better drive with comperable spec (4X dual) out there when using good media, ie TDK, Maxell, Memeorex, Fuji purchased locally.
