The subject sums it up really. Now that DVD players are appearing with Divx/Xvid (Mpeg-4) capability, the future of Mpeg-2 may now be affected. All authoring programs seem to insist on mpg assets. Is there any way of menu authoring a DVD which has Divx content? I'm surprised this subject has not risen it's head on this forum yet.

Can't be done. Divx does not support anything like the menu and chapter system of DVD-Video.
Thats because they are DVD-Video authoring programs. DVD-Video requires all video assets to be within a specific subset of the mpeg-1 or mpeg-2 specifications. Divx is not allowed.Originally Posted by sydh
Just because a few manufacturers now produce players capable of reading divx files from CDr or DVDr media does not make it part of the DVD-Video standard. -
I have too looked for a software to author MPEG-4 CD
. I have't even found a way to do a proper disk structure. What type of subtitle-files do they use ect.

No such software exists because it doesn't exists any "mpeg4 authoring standard" yet. Check at www.divx.com for some info about their standard.Originally Posted by tinamies
