  1. My Windows XP suddenly won't recognize that I put a new CD/DVD in either my DVD-ROM or my DVD-RW player. It finds the first CD/DVD I put in, but when I change to a new one, the contents of the last disc still shows, and I have to deactivate and reactivate the unit to read the new disc. I think it might have happened when I installed ASPI layer. I've tried to remove and reinstall ASPI (4.71.2) but nothing seems to work. Any ideas? Something I have to remove in the registry maybe?

    There is this from Microsoft

    http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;314939&Product=winxp

it basically says it was fixed in sp-1

do you have auto run turned off?

try doing a right click and eject from the menu and see if it updates.

you might try something like regSupreme from www.macecraft.com it looks at your registry for errors. I did mine the other night and had 1500 things that shouldn't have been there.

  5. Thanks for the suggestions. I have sp1, and it does not help to refresh. Right clicking and selecting eject sometimes does the trick but usually not. Auto run is turned off. I actually have to deactivate the drive and reactivate it again for it to read the new cd. Guess I'll try the registry thing. Looks like something is really screwed up.

  7. this was happening to me.. i think it was related to installing anydvd, or maybe running the alcohol 120% virtual drive.

it was really not a big deal, everything worked okay, it just didnt properly display the TOC & disc label.
