There are 2 types of Maxell DVD-r's. The ones sold in the red packaging and the ones sold in the white/green-blue packaging. What's the difference between those two?

Are you talking about spindles or packs with cases? The -R Maxells in 10 packs MADE IN JAPAN are good disks. Only 2x speed though.
I have some of those Japanese Maxell's and the box looks kinda orange to me.
