    Im flying down to Florida and I want to put some tv shows that I have on to a DVD+RW.How many hours should I make my MPG2 to fit on a DVD+RW.

  2. Burned DVD's hold 4.38 gigs of data. the amount of time you can squeeze into that capacity is determined by the bitrate used to generate the .mpg file.
    Lower bitrates aloow more play time, but reduced picture quality. Higher bitrates do the opposite.

    a VERY general guide can be:
    - 6000/8000 bitrate = 1 Hr best quality
    - 4500/5500 bitrate = 1.5 Hrs ok quality
    - 3000/4000 bitrate = 2 hrs marginal quality

    8000 is as about high as you can encode.
    <3000 most likely will affect your viewing pleasure.

    given all that, suggest you do a bit of experimenting to find your own comfort zone by encoding a short .avi clip at different bitrate settings.
