    I opened the IFO i have in hexedit, and i see the line of number s at the top. Im thinking one of them is the region code, and just needs to be changed. I just dont know which one. Any ideas?

  2. This sounds like a lot more work than necessary. Just drag the IFO file into DVDBackup, select the region you want, hit Process, and save the fixed IFO file in a different place.

    Here is all I know you can get out of HexEdit and an IFO

    VTS_01_0.IFO file hex address 200

    Open your VTS_01_0.IFO in HexEditor,
    Locate hex address 200
    Make changes as need, then save.

    Here is an example: 16:9, 740x480, AC3 audio
    Open your VTS_01_0.IFO in HexEditor,
    Locate hex address 200
    Make changes as need, then save.

    Here is an example: 16:9, 740x480, AC3 audio

    0000200: F9 00 00 01 00 01 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00

    Aspect Ratio
    43 = 4:3
    F9 = 16:9

    Resolution NTSC (PAL)
    00 = 720x480 (720x576)
    1 = 704x480 (704x576)
    0A = 352x480 (352x576)
    0C = 352x240 (352x288)

    Audio Coding
    00 = AC3
    02 = Mpeg-1
    03 = Mpeg-2ext
    04 = LPCM
    06 = DTS

    *This info is found on Ross's homepage (homepage.mac.com/rnc)

    nothing about region code! The only way I know to do this is with IFOEdit and its not the region code thats not correct, its the RCE protection (which I understand to be the PAL/NTSC designation)

    i had this problem where i just used DVDbackup set to region free did the dvd2one and mailed if off to a friend in england.

    He couldnt play the disk and further investigation proved to me that the RCE protection was still on the disk! I opened the VIDEO_TS folder in IFOEDIT and click remove RCE and that was all it took

    less than 1 min to do that in VPC
