  1. Is there more info (either objective or subjective) on the quality/time increases you get with various FFMPEGX options?

Eg. It would be good to know if 'High Quality' gives you subjectively 10% better output, and takes 20% longer.

I know these numbers would be variable depending on the application, but any indication would be useful.

While I'm on the topic, are there any mencoder options that people have found incompatible with Xbox Media Centre? I encoded a couple of things that it just won't play, and I'm not yet sure which setting I changed that is responsible.

Take a test clip and encode it several times by changing the options. Always enable the PSNR option. Compare the encoding time with the PSNR value, which is an objective encoding quality measurement.
