    While cruising through the Epson store, I noticed that they had REFURBISHED 960's for sale at $199.00 USD! Says free shipping and USB cable too!

    Because some people may want whatever features the 960 offers. But you are right. The only thing I can think of at the moment is that the 960 has aftermarket ink carts available, and always full chips!
