  1. Hello all,
Im a new member, but not a dvd newbie (thanks to this site) and i know a fair amount of stuff on creating dvd movies and burning them. Ive also come to rely on the compatibility and reliability of BeAll brand dvd-r, but my latest batch has me second guessing that reliablility.
I am now on my 3rd batch of 100 (from meritline) and out of the first 50, ive burned an amazing 15 coasters! In fact, the very first 2 discs from the pack failed on me but it wasnt until the 5th or 6th that i noticed they where all failing at the same spot on the disc. I thought maybe it was my burning program, so i tried others... same results. I tried burning at 1 and 2x speeds and still a few of them failed... in the same spot. Ive come to the conclusion that i have a bad batch... a very bad batch. If the next 50 are as bad as the first, i'll be switching to Ritek. A 30% failure rate is much too high.
Has anyone else had a bad batch of BeAll dvd media?

  2. I think you've got a bad batch. I burned over 150 beall dvd-r discs and no coaster. It is awesome on my panasonic e30.

  3. Not really sure. I have a 50 pack i got from meritline. I love the printing coverage, but after burning about 20 discs and having about 7 of them fail i gave up on them. I stuck the other 30 discs on my shelf and will probably use them for PC backups or something. They are just not real consistent in my opinion.

I bought a 50-pack of BeAll 4X DVD-R from Meritline a couple of months ago. When I burn them at 4X, I get read errors when I test them, so I have resorted to burning them at 2X, which results in no read errors.

  6. What burner are you using? My NEC 1300A hates them. I bought 100 of them, but have given up using them. I have since switched to Riteks. Maybe other burners have better success with BeAlls.
