    Hi guys
    I've got 9 avi/wmv/mkv videos (from 700mb to 1.7gb)
    I know I'll have to build 6 dvds (4.5 not 9) approx.

I've got ConvertXtoDvd, but the process takes years (and I have gone through 2 discs)

I'd like to know if there's a batch conversion utility or software that

    - takes all the video files
    - do a batch encoding (and some cutting? if videos are longer than dvd4.5)
    - build dvds projects (with or without menu) automatically (in separate folders)

so then I can burn each dvd once all the tasks are done.

ConvertXtoDvd is awesome, but I think I'm looing so much time. Is there anything quicker ?

    Thanks a lot in advance,

Your machine is a dinosaur, so expect anything to be slow. ConvertXtoDVD is one of the faster encoders, so if you think that is slow, you are in for a disappointing time. Encoding is CPU intensive. You might get some small gains by adding more ram and adding a second HDD so your source and target are on separate physical discs, but you will only get meaningful speed gains by replacing your CPU with some faster, and preferably with 2 or 4 cores.

FAVC will allow you to create multiple DVDs, but is doesn't really batch, just allows to create them all together. No speed improvement there for you.

A simpler solution would be to buy a cheap DVD player that plays Divx/Xvid encoded files, and just burn data discs instead. No conversion necessary.

    Hi guns1inger
I've updated my machine's info. Lol, I forgot to update that

I think the cheap dvd player won't be an option here in Argentina, because the divx players are expensive here, and well, my father in law won't buy another player just for these videos lol

Thanks for the tip about FAVC, I'll check it. If you have another suggestion (knowing the specs of my new PC) then I'll be with my eyes wide opened

    See ya,

This might be what you are looking for : http://www.cdr-zone.com/forum/about9963.html

It is a tool that will allow you to build and run a batch list of convertXtoDVD conversions. Just set them run overnight.
