  1. I saw the brand 'Dynex' at Best Buy (Winnipeg, Canada) and I was wondering if anyone has any knowledge of this brand? Is it any good? is it horrible like Memorex?

    Another pegger. Howdy
Tell me a little about the dynex that you saw at best buy.
Was it - or + r and what was the price and quantity.
If reasonbly priced I will purchase some and report back the results.
There is NO mention of this media in the dvd media area of this forum.
I am always on the prowl for media in this town.

Thanks for the response. $30 for 25 disks is a great price in this town.
Shame it was a boxing day only price. For $30 I would have bought a
spindle just to try out. However. I DONT DO BOXING DAY.
I hate crowds and NO discount will tempt me into the fray.
SO. The next logical question is? Did ya buy some???????
If you did, go to the tools section on the left and download dvdinfopro.
It will tell you exactly what disks they are.
And would you please post your results for all to see.
Even at $2.00 a disk, if they burn great at 4x they are not a bad buy
    in Winnipeg.

    Best to you

  5. No, I didn't buy some. I don't do boxing day sales, and I found that the price the DVD-R is a *little* too good to be true. I would rather go to Computer Boulevard and buy some Ritek or Optodisc. They are rated to be good. I don't have the amount of money to waste on discs if they were to fail to work in my dvd player that I have. I'll stick with Ritek, Optodisc and Maxell until someone has experience with Dynex DVD-R's and has posted the results

  6. Hi,
This is my first post so if i offend anyone or do anything incorrectly, feel free to inform me. I was able to purchase the Dynex dvd-r discs for the boxing day price of 25 for $30 CAD from BestBuy Canada. The discs are branded and state that they can be written on at 4x. I've tried one out. A virtually completely full disc took about 12 mins on a pioneer a06, so i think this qualifies as 4x. I also ran dvd identifier on the disc and this is the result:
    Unique Disc Identifier : [DVD-R:AN32]
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Disc Type : [DVD-R]
    Manufacturer ID : [AN32]
Disc Application Code : [Unrestricted Use : Consumer Purpose]
    Recording Speeds : [1x - 2x - 4x]
    Blank Disc Capacity : [2,298,496 Sectors = 4,489.3 MB = 4.38 GB]
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------

On a side note I also did the boxing day sale at Futureshop for the 2x dvd-r pine discs, 25 for $30 CAD. They are unbranded and also ran dvd identifier. Here is the result:
    Unique Disc Identifier : [DVD-R:MXL RG01]
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Disc Type : [DVD-R]
    Manufacturer ID : [MXL RG01]

    Yo mariachi
    Welcome to the forum.
I thank-you for posting the results of the dynex disks.
I have had excellent results from all an32 disks
    that I have tried.
The only problem being that dynex is probably a re-packager
and not all their disks will always be an32,s.
I have bought spindles of disks that started out being one type
and half way through became another type. Very discouraging.

    Again welcome

SilverBlade why do you say memorex are junk? I have had no probs with the RICOHJPNR01. Burned many dvds already all at 4x with my LG4040b Also the CMC MAG. AF1 work excellent for me. They play in the Pc and on my Pioneer DV-414. For me these disks are great...

  10. I've had nothing but problems with Memorex discs. I tried to make a copy of a DVD-R, DVD shrink couldn't read it, neither could DVD decryptor. Optodiscs and Maxell can be read by the software, but not Memorex discs
