  2. If it is just straight DVD to DVD copying, any speed of PC will do. You will need at least 10GB of hard drive space for storing the image of the original on your hard drive. Straight copies of DVD 9' to DVD 5's or DVD 5 to DVD 5 are not intensive like video encoding.

If you are talking about video encoding, 512MB of RAM will do, but 1GB is the most effective. As big a hard drive as possible and preferrably 2 drives. You should put most of your budget into getting as fast a processor as you can as video encoding is increased in speed by pure GHz.

Hope this helps you for whatever you plan to do.

  3. If you are just wanting to copy what you already have then the bottleneck is the speed of file transfer from dvd to h/d and writing speed of dvd drive as much as anything else.
H/d get at least 120 gig with 8 meg cache, mem 512 to 1024, proceser XP 2600+
A lot depends on your budget ??

I burn @ 4X with a duron 750... with 512 of 133 sdram this system also rips to make backups with no problems has 240 gig h/d space mainly to keep copies on drive. So you dont really need a top of the range system to do dvd stuff on, unless a lot of video encoding is to be done. But it is point less saving a few £ or $ by not buying the best you can afford now.
    Not bothered by small problems...
