  1. I have Nero 5.5 OEM version that came with my TDK CD-Writer. Yesterday I bought the Nero 6.0 version as an upgrade. While trying to install - I am getting an error message:

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    'Incorrect command line parameters.

    Windows INstaller. V 2.00.2600.2
Copyright @ 2000 Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved.
Portions of this software are based in part on the work of the Independent JPEG Group.'

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have written to tech support of Nero but haven't received a reply as yet. Thought I will check if anyone else has come across this problem and may have a solution. I have Windows ME as my operating system.

What version of windows are you using?

Check the *.msi file and make sure that it is associated with Windows Installer and not another program. (right click on a .msi file and see what the open with says)

Also you might try reinstalling Windows Installer.

This seems to be a problem with Windows Installer not a particular Program.

  5. Parsonsj - the .msi files are associated with 'Windows Installer'. I will try reinstalling the windows installer.

Teaser - I am a little hesitant to uninstall the 5.5 because I can't locate my Nero CD that came with the TDK writer. So if I uninstall Nero 5.5 and still I have a problem with 6.0 then I am toast! I may do it if I can't find a solution or if I don't here from the techsupport Nero guys.

    I will update ...

You will need to uninstall your previous version of Nero. What you can do is create a System Restore point before doing so, that way you have your fail-safe in the event you still have problems. I suspect Nero 6 will install just fine though.

if you want to uninstall and try but can't find you disk the this is from NERO's Website

    """"
First make sure you have your Nero 5 serial key to install Nero/Nero Express with. It should look like 15xx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxx. It should be located on the inside of the Nero Jewel case, or on the back of the paper sleeve the Nero CD came in. You can also go into your Registry, and go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE and under SOFTWARE_AHEAD_NERO-BURNING ROM_INFO obtain your Nero 5 serial key from here.

Then download NeroClean Tool to your desktop. Unzip the file and then double click on the EXE file to run. Select 'Clean All' option and then click on the 'Clean' button to Uninstall all Nero products. And then reboot your system. It will clean the registry and remove all Nero entries.
After that download and install the latest Nero version from our webpage.
    Please click here: http://www.nero.com/us/631933457317970.html

Please note: Updates to our latest Nero 5.xx releases are free of charge.
If you want to upgrade to Nero 6 you have to buy a serial number at our online shop on our webpage.
Important: Your Nero 5.xx serial number will not work with Nero 6.
    """"

The Serial you get from the Registry should work on the Download from Nero's Site to get your TDK 5.5 reinstalled. If memory serves the Serial Number for oems has the Recorder in it somehow.

If you really want to be sure wait to hear from nero. BTW look in your registry and write down your Serial for the Installed NERO. If something happens you will need it to reinstall.
