  1. Hi all,
Forgive me if this is a stupid question but i am a total n00b in all this DVD-burning thingies...

Ok, here is the problem: When i open Nero (version 5.5.9.14) it doesn't recognize my nec-nd1300a. Only thing i get is this "image-burner"...

I checked forums and looked like a madman for the same topics...but all i got were similar problems without any real solution.
-I read 'bout updating the firmware, but than again i read that wasn't necesarry and even dangerous for the hardware
-I read 'bout updating my Nero version, but than again i read 'bout people havin no troubles at all with the 5.5.9.0 version...
-Then I read about changing the "jumper-settings"...well i have installed my write-drive (nec-...) as master and have my dvd-player installed as slave. So far so good i think... But what will those jumpers do? are they the problem or not? I don't like messing around with my hardware, excepts when I really have to...

Is there another solution anyone knows about? Or can someone help me with the jumper settings?

Funny thing is that I can write DVDs with my Nec in software like DVD X Copy Platinum, but I am unable to write reggular CDs...

    I am really desperate

    Thank you all in advance!

  2. Sounds like you need to update your NERO software.

  3. If Nero did not come with your DVD burner, than I agree with NY Player. You will need to upgrade you Nero software.

I contacted Nero in the past, for the same reason, and they told me they're software does not come bundled with my particular burner, so they could offer no support. I believe Nero was offering a free upgrade to 6.0. They might still be offering it.

That burner didn't exist when that version of Nero was written. I don't think 4x DVD was around either.

Update to 5.10.xx.xx which is still available on the website. I think you will have to pay to upgrade to 6.x

    You received good advice.
99.99% sure the nero update is your problem. I have the same burner and had nero 5.5.9.9 and had to update it. My current version is 5.5.10.28 and I have no problems with it.

  9. If you have got any other burning software on your system it could coflict with nero.
But as you have allready being told you will need a newer version of nero.
But if you have got other burning software on your system, uninstall them and try again.
