    Try svcd2dvd and svcd2dvdmpeg ( and maybe svcd2mpeg ).

There are a few basic ways of doing it.

    1) Patch the header of the SVCD to fake it out as 1/2 D1 (closest DVD resolution). Then all you have to do is resample the audio to 48 Khz. TMPG Author will do the Aduio for you during authoring.

    2) Re-Encode to a stnadard resoltuion. This takes a lot longer, and introduces more artifacts.

    3) If you lucky enough to have a player that supports MPEG's in ISO mode, then you can simply copy the 2-4 SVCD's to a folder on a DVDR and play that.

Generally speaking it's easier to work from your original DVD's.

  3. The only way to convert such a video to DVD compliant is to re-encode. I would reccomend using 1/2 D1 resolution (352*480). There will be some quality loss, but if you keep the average bitrate at the same as the source it should be minimal. There are plenty of guides in the convert section.

However, some DVD players will play 480*480 in DVD-Video format. If you want to give that a try, take a look at SVCD2DVDMPG and the guides that use it.

  4. TMPGenc will handle the conversion well, and has a 30day mpeg2 trial. Is the 480x480 mpg mpeg1 or mpeg2, check out the guides section to the left.
