    Sorry my poor english.

I have 11 CDs containing 180 Seinfeld episodes. 99% of the CD are AVI episodes and 1% are ASF episodes.

I would like to see the episodes on my standalone DVD player (Bluesky DV-1100) wich can read DVD, VCD, SVCD but not Divx.

I thought converting from AVI to MPG but each 30MB AVI episode, when converted, gets too big... like 1000MB.

Each episode resolution is very low and I would like to fit all 180 episodes in 2 DVDs or 11 VCD-CDs. How can I convert AVI to DVD/VCD/SVCD with the same size as the original AVI ? I don't mind loosing some image or sound quality.

  2. You are talking about approx 1MB/min for mpeg1 video. This would be practically unwatchable, VCD is 10MB/min. Presumably the source is not too good as 30MB for an AVI file of that duration is low. So trying to compress a poor quality mpeg4 to mpeg2 with a bitrate of around 115kbps will look awfull.

You could try XVCD, (non standard VCD) use TMPGEnc and lower the bitrate untill the filesize is what you want. But like I said, it will look crap.

I agree with everything Craig said and just to add:

A typical CD will hold 80 min. of standard VCD video, so if each episode is say 25 mins. then you can get 3 per CD, so you will need 60 CD's. If you lower the bitrate it will only look worse and your DVD player may not accept a VCD that is out of spec., the only way is to try and see.

BTW, I can't believe you get 17 episodes on a CD. Do you perhaps mean DVD?

Nope, I have 11 CDs with 180 Seinfeld episodes.

CD nš1 contains 19 episodes, each episode as 20 or 30 minutes, 246 kbps and video size is 320 x 240.

    WMP tells me this:
Audio codec is Microsoft Audio Codec 32 kbps, 44 kHz, mono.
Video codec is Microsoft MPEG-4 Video Codec V3.

Size of each episode is 30 or 40 MB. The best I've done was converting each episode to DVD MPEG2 using TMPGEnc. Each episode is now 150 MB, same quality (rather poor) as the original.
