Is one configured as master and the other as slave? Are they on the same IDE connector(channel). Sounds like there both configured as master.
-
THX! They are on the same cable...the master is the connected first and then the CD-RW is as salve connected at the end of the cable... Does the posistion on the connector make a difference?
-
No the position on the cable does not matter. Are you sure one is jumpered as master and the other jumpered as slave? If one drive is a Pioneer try changeing it to slave and make the other drive the master.
The jumpers on the back of a CD/DVD drive tell the computer which is the master and which is the slave. Cable position does not normally matter.
On floppy drives cable position does determine A/B(master/slave).
I have expierenced a problem with Pioneer drives that would not be recognized unless they were configured as the slave. -
I reinstalled the CD-RW in windows and the problem is solved...thx for the quick reply wulf109...
One more question... My SB has only 1 connector for sound cable which is now used by the DVD... that leaves my CD-RW unable to send sound to my pc...is there a way around it like a splitter or such? -
I've never seen a Y-connector to solve that problem. What I did was splice an audio mini jack cable to the sound cable. Then threaded the audio end out the back of the computer and plugged it into the audio input jack on the sound card.

I have digital & analog on sb so i have connected that way my cdrw&dvdrw...
You can try make Y splitter using two cables & wire cutter...
Its easy... -
Why even bother connecting it? It is not needed for anything I can think of.

Since your Pioneer can play back both DVDs and CD-R/-RW, hook the audio cable up to it. No need to have both hooked up to sound card.

I agree with Claybuster I don't have any cables to my sound cards anymore. All sound comes over the Computer Bus
