  1. I was wondering if they make video cards with HDTV out..my TV takes 1080i YPrPb ..another question..is there any kind of software that would "upgrade" the 480i to 1080i??? I know it won't be true HDTV but propably better than 480i....to my surprise only a handful of channels broadcast HDTV and the cable/satellite companies charge extra for HDTV signal.

    Thanks

All the newer ATI cards (8500 and up I believe) can output to HDTV's. ATI provides component video adapters for this. Check their website.

If your HDTV is a CRT (direct-view or rear projection), it's native display resolution is most likely 1080i. So any signal you feed into it, it will convert it to 1080i. It's not like an upconversion, but more like a rescaling of the video. Basically, it doesn't make it look better, it just puts it into a resolution that the TV can display.

Samsung and V Inc. both make HDTV upconversion DVD players that can convert DVD video up to 720p or 1080i. You'll need a DVI connector on your TV though.

Aren't they making HDTV's with DVI input now?

I thought I read that they standardized on that because it was an open standard or something...

has anyone hooked a DVI Video card to a DVI HDTV? Does it work? Work Well?
