  1. Just tried burning a DVD for the first time. Sucessfuly used DVD Shrink to copy to harddrive. Then used Nero to burn but got a coaster. The directions that came with Nero really blow, so obviously I'm doing something wrong. What do I use to burn under new compilation: ISO (thats the one I tried), DVD Copy, DVD-video, or DVD-Rom UDF?

DVD-Video should be the one to use, assuming the DVD is less than 4.3 Gigs

Also, get yourslef a DVD re-writeable disc (DVD-/+RW) - use it to test your results and then burn to DVD-/+R when you're happy. Cuts down on coasters...

  4. That did not work either. I must still be missing something. I used DVD shrink to copy the DVD to a new folder. I am then moving all its contents into the Nero video Video_TS file. Is this right?

If I had a nickle for every time this comes up.

Create your files in Shrink to ANY folder.
    Open nero
    Chose your DVD burner
    For "Mode" chose DVD/VIDEO
In the next window you see a pair of folders on the eft side named AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS ( In CAPS )
Open the VIDEO_TS located on the left side of the Nero interface
On the right side, locate the FILES and only the Files that were created with Shrink and drag them to the left and the now open VIDEO_TS folder.
    Click BURN

    That's it!

I use Nero 6.3 which has finally solved the earlier problem with IMAPI and recognition of some drives in WIN XP and I am getting 100% successful burns.
No DVD can withstand the power of DVDShrink along with AnyDVD!

  6. Thanks for everyones help. Apparently the problem is with my Toshiba 2200 player because when I tried the DVDR's in the PS2 it worked fine. When I insert them in the Toshiba I just get a disk error message. It's supposed to take DVD+ according to the dvdrhelp guide, but I guess it doesn't. Unless it could be the media I'm using. Phillips DVD+R.

When you're burning the DVD, are you burning just the VIDEO_TS folder? If so, try burning the (usually, probably empty) AUDIO_TS folder as well.

I've read on this forum that some stand-alones look for BOTH folders to identify the disk as a DVD, whereas some are more lenient and look for at least the VIDEO_TS folder.

    It may make a difference...

  8. Nero seems to automaticaly create an AUDIO_TS folder along with the video one. Nothing in it, but its there. Man, I wish you could get firware upgrades for stand-alone players. The Toshiba really does an excellent job of playing standard videos.

Mmmm, not the AUDIO_TS folder then.

I've read the reviews on the Toshiba SD 2200 (on this site) - and there's been mixed results with DVD+R.

Are you using the latest version of Nero?
Have you tried different burning software ? (Check out Tools...)
Have you tried different media (manufacturer as well as format)?

It may end up being a case of trial and error...

    Good luck.
