I will be receiving a Pioneer A06 for Christmas. After much research of users' opinions, I decided that this is the drive for me!

I have a P4 1.6 Ghz cpu with 384 meg ram. On IDE 0 I have a WD 120 gb hd, and on IDE 1, I have a TDK VeloCD 24x cd burner as master, and a generic dvd-rom as slave. Should I replace the cd burner or the dvd-rom with the A06? I've been thinking about the pros of either decision, but some input would be very helpful.

    Thanks to all who respond.

IMHO, unless you have burning requirements that require the TDK, or special software that will only work with the TDK and not the Pioneer A06, I'd replace the TDK. Keep the DVD-ROM for general purpose CD/DVD reading, and use the Pioneer to burn everything you need

That's how I did it -- I removed my Yamaha CD-RW and kept my Pioneer DVD-ROM for reading and my A05 for writing. My only complaint was that CDRWin (software) worked flawlessly with my CD-RW, but of course, wouldn't work with my A05, and I used CDRWin religiously to create music CD's. But oh well, I'm getting used to NERO
