First off, sorry if this is the wrong forum.
Does anyone know if it's possible to use an internal DVD writer (ie a Pioneer 106), in an external case, via firewire on an iMac ?
The reason I ask is that my brother-in-law has got an iMac and a JVC digital camcorder but would like to transfer the footage to disk (but hasn't got an internal burner), at the moment I'm having to do it for him on my PC.
cheers in advance !

Totally possible. However note that if it does not have an apple firmware on it it usually will not work with iDVD, but I've seen a potental fix out there for that. I just don't have any info on it off hand.

Cheers for the reply.
I'll have a bit of a look about on the net and see what I can come up with.
He doesn't know that much about editing etc, but wants to have ago with the equipment he's got - he can afford to buy a burner, but can't really stretch to a new Mac or PC.
