On my own dvd's that are over 4.0 (4,289,000,000) gigs, that smart ripper just stops ripping and refuses to go any further (even if I set the max file size to 5 gigs, and turn it to "max file size" for the vob file sizing options)
it then kicks out with a "Do you want to quit ripping?" thing, if I click no it just sits there and does nothing.
Is it an inherant file size thing? I hate split .vob files because when you watch them in power dvd it stops the movie, jerks for about 5 seconds and then continues.
any idea's?

I figured it out, its an inherant problem with fat32 drives.. (bah! microshaft.)
Thanks anyway

If you're using Windows 98 or XP, I believe the file limit size is 4 Gigs. I don't know much about compression but unless you go for Windows 2000 you might be SOL

yeah, its the fat32 4gig file size thing. if you want to view the movie "seamlessly", just rip the dvd as it is structured on the disc itself. and view it through cinematograph.

Err, it does for me.. fat32 windows ME failed to rip higher than 4 gigs for me, so I switched to windows 2000, and all is well in tk land -
You can set smartripper to make 1GB file sizes (IIRC this is the default). But if you've got to NTFS you're also good. Keep in mind that there is a file size limit for NTFS, IIRC is 16exaBytes (anyone remember the number?).
